The triathlon starts on Sunday morning with a mass start on Glücksburg's spa beach under the motto "Experience the sea" and first sends the athletes into the Baltic Sea for a swim. The swimming stage in the sea makes the OstseeMan a unique event, as the triathlon in Glücksburg is the only one in Germany where the athletes plunge into the cool waters of the open sea.
After the athletes have jumped on their bikes, they complete two or four laps, depending on the distance, on the fast and varied route through the unique natural landscape and surrounding villages, such as the green village of Langballig.
The running route in Glücksburg is one of the most beautiful running routes in triathlon! Three or six laps of 7.03 km are run. After the start, the route takes you along the spa promenade right by the water. It then continues past the Glückselig restaurant and over the Blocksberg towards Glücksburg town centre to the turning point and along the beach path and promenade to Quellental. The route loops back through the Flensburg Sailing Club. Passing the start and finish line again, the next lap begins and later the finish line.
If you are not (yet) fit enough for a triathlon but would still like to take part in the OstseeMan, you can either register for the Quellental Charity Run the day before or as a team of three athletes. Each team member then completes one stage of the course.
