Interesting facts and stories can be found on the information boards along the way. Flensburg tour - around the city area

After an initially steep climb out of the city, this tour leads through mostly flat Geestland. Winding paths and secluded spots invite you to linger. The apple trees along the way were once planted by wedding couples as a sign of love.

Baltic Sea Coast Cycle Route 2b

The 430 km long Baltic Sea Coast Cycle Route in Schleswig-Holstein alone starts in the far north near Flensburg and leads south to Travemünde, past impressive lake and fjord landscapes, as well as charming coastal towns and lively harbor cities. Our favorite section is of course the route around Glücksburg, which is well signposted from Flensburg via Glücksburg to Geltinger Bucht. The route is mostly flat and easy to master for amateur cyclists. You mainly cycle on asphalted paths, either on the road, on dedicated cycle paths or on side roads with little traffic. From Flensburg, you cycle mostly directly along the shore towards Glücksburg, past the beautiful Solitüde beach and through the shady Glücksburg forest with the Westerwerker See lake. Cycle up through Glücksburg to the Pugumer See nature reserve and from there head south again towards Bockholm and Langballigau.

Ox path

The Ochsenweg long-distance cycle route is around 245 km long and starts in southern Schleswig-Holstein and stretches through the country up to the Flensburg Fjord. It is a historic overland route that was used in the 19th century as a central route between Denmark and northern Germany. Nowadays, it delights cyclists with fascinating impressions of nature, e.g. moorland, heath and meadow landscapes, lakes and rivers. The cultural aspects are not neglected either, as the route passes through attractive towns in northern Germany. The Viking village of Haithabu, Gottorf Castle and, of course, the port city of Flensburg with its historic harbor also await you along the way.

During the ride, you embark on a varied cycle tour from the western North Sea coast towards the Baltic Sea and Flensburg Fjord. The cycle route officially ends in Flensburg, but a short detour to Glücksburg is always worthwhile from here. Experience Scandinavian specialties and North German hospitality on approx. 130 km of cycle path. Numerous bilingual information points offer exciting cross-border stories and overview maps. At the same time, the border route also overlaps with the long-distance North Sea-Baltic Sea Cycle Route, offering individual shortcuts and circular routes.

Flensburg Fjord Route

The Flensburg Fjord Route is a fascinating cycle route that stretches along the German-Danish border and circles the impressive Flensburg Fjord. Cyclists have the unique opportunity to experience two cultures, their history and their scenic features. The route was created by Destination Sønderjylland in Denmark. The cycle tour runs for around 307 kilometers along picturesque stretches of coastline, through charming villages, historic towns and green landscapes. There are a total of six stages to experience, each divided into sections of 32 to 62 kilometers. This means you can start from great locations in Denmark and Germany and cycle along the fjord across borders. Of course, you can also determine the direction and thus the starting country of the routes individually. Recommendations for places worth seeing are given for each stage, accompanied by an overview of shopping facilities and accommodation. The fourth stage also leads through our beautiful Glücksburg!
