This circular trail starts and ends at a small parking lot located directly at Friedeholz. It leads through the hilly forest landscape to the entrance to the village of Schausende. From here, the trail continues along the road bordering wide fields and returns in a wide arc. There is a viewing platform at the Pugumer See nature reserve.

This tour leads over numerous hills through Glücksburg's south-western forests around the Roikiersee lake, which is covered in water lilies. Dog owners are allowed to let their well-behaved dogs run free for the first and last 600 meters.

Meierwik circular walk

From the Quellental parking lot, this tour first leads past the marina, the planetarium and the Fördelandthermen thermal baths, up to the Tremmerup forest. On hilly sandy paths past Lake Roikier you reach Meierwik, where you return to the shore of the Flensburg Fjord and along it. The last section leads through a resting forest - please be appropriately respectful here.

The start and finish of this tour are at Glücksburg marina. The route first runs along the promenade towards the Sandwig spa beach and on to the mouth of the Schwennau. The route leads through the town and Glücksburg's forests past the royal oak, the old forester's lodge and the Fördeland thermal baths.

This circular route starts at the parking lot at the mouth of the Schwennau in the direction of Beckerwerft, always along the promenade. It offers a fantastic view of Denmark and the offshore Ochseninseln islands. You return to the starting point via fields, forests and through the urban area.

Süderbrarup / Norderbrarup hiking trail

This trail offers 12 information stations and leads through the two villages of Süderbrarup and Norderbrarup. Information is provided about the historical and historic significance of the locations as well as information about interesting natural areas. A particular highlight is the Thorsberger Moor, an important war booty sacrificial site from the Roman Empire (1st-5th century AD).

The Schäferhaus foundation land is a 292-hectare nature reserve located to the west of Flensburg. Here, nature is explained and illustrated to visitors at various stations. There are two viewing points that offer a wonderful view of the area, which is home to 100 Galloway cattle and a few wild Konik horses.

Hike around the Glücksburg castle lake

The moated castle of Glücksburg is the undisputed landmark of the town. This picturesque 2 km long trail leads around the castle lake. Starting at the parking lot, the route runs through the castle courtyard, through the castle park with the rosarium and the orangery, continuing along the shore. The royal oak offers benches that invite you to linger. Finally, the route crosses the Prinz-Friedrich-Ferdinand-Damm and returns to the city center.

Dolmen Trail - Archaeological and natural history hiking trail

On this tour, you can experience the traces of our ancestors that are still visible today. There are stone graves along the route with signs providing information about the age and type of grave. There is also a wild boar enclosure, a playground and an elven meadow along the way.

Starting at the Schausende lighthouse, this tour leads over a dyke to Holnis Noor. It continues up to the cliffs, where a magnificent view rewards hikers for their efforts. After crossing the Holnisspitze, the route follows the promenade on the eastern shore and the road along the fields back to Schausende.

Further hikes in the Friedeholz

In addition to the dolmen trail, there are two other beautiful hiking trails through the Friedeholz. The Friedeholz circular trail is around 6 km long and leads right through the forest and along the Pugumer See nature reserve. The start and finish is the Schauenthal parking lot in the heart of Glücksburg. From here, the route follows small roads with little traffic in the east along the forest to the imposing Weldt oak tree, which has a very special charm, especially in the fall. The route then continues to Lake Pugumer See and in a wide arc back along the nature reserve to the starting point.

You can also do a smaller loop with the family: the 1.8 km long wild boar circular trail is also easy for children to master and offers variety for the little ones too. From the Friedeholz parking lot, you first go to the wild boar enclosure, where in spring the young boars enchant not only the little visitors. The next point is the adventure playground in Friedeholz, where children can let off steam with plenty of imagination. On the way back, you can either take a slightly longer route through the beautiful forest or take the shortcut back towards the wild boar enclosure.

Hikes along the highlights of Glücksburg

A combination of sporting activity and discovering Glücksburg's sights and special features can be experienced on the hiking trails in Glücksburg. Enjoy the view of the beautiful and famous landmark of the Baltic seaside resort - Glücksburg Castle - on the 2.1 km long castle circular trail. Follow the tour around the castle pond and enjoy the wonderful panoramic view of the impressive castle grounds. On the 4.8 km Schwennau circular route, you start in Friedeholz, past the wild boar enclosure, along the fjord - from the Becker shipyard to Schwennau. Denmark is within sight before you return to Friedeholz through lush greenery. The 3.1 km long Sandwig circular route shows you once again the diversity of Glücksburg: from the Fördeland-Therme spa, you pass the planetarium on your way to the waterfront promenade. Feel the fine sand of Sandwig beach and look out over the water from the Fördeschifffahrt landing stage to the neighboring Danish country. Relax as you walk through the forest, past the castle pond, back to the starting point of the hike.

The 10 km hiking trail across the Holnis peninsula and the nature reserve of the same name will delight all nature lovers and fresh air fanatics. Discover the natural diversity of the Flensburg Fjord. Climb the Holnis Kliff natural monument and enjoy a panoramic view of the Flensburg Fjord from there or follow the small paths winding through hedges and meadows, stroll along the promenade of the Drei/Holnis spa beach and watch kite surfers and sailing boats. Interesting information boards about the local flora and fauna await all plant and bird lovers at the NABU information hut. Passing the Schausender lighthouse, you reach the charming Club Nautics sailing and yacht harbor, where you can take a wonderful break. The Gasthaus Fährhaus Holnis and a café with a unique view of the fjord will also welcome you with a delicious fish dish, a refreshing drink or freshly baked cake and delicious coffee.
