Culinary highlights

The Baltic seaside resort of Glücksburg has real culinary highlights to offer that are known far beyond the borders of Schleswig-Holstein. The Meierei Dirk Luther restaurant should definitely be on the agenda for the gourmets among you. The culinary flagship of the Vitalhotel Alter Meierhof is renowned for its classic French cuisine with modern accents. Here you can enjoy excellent food in an elegant ambience - confirmed by the Michelin Guide restaurant guide with two stars since 2008.

In the restaurant and brewery Marktwirtschaft you will find somewhat different gastronomic delights. Here, the delicious Lykke beer is brewed directly on site. The brewery offers a range of different beers, from the lightly quaffable Haustrunk to a lager inspired by the art of southern German brewing. In addition, the Marktwirtschaft brews a new beer of the month every month. Try out the different varieties with the ProBIER board or take part in a brewery tour followed by a tasting. We guarantee: it's worth it!

Restaurants for casual dining

Fancy taking in the view over the mainland after a long day at the beach? In Glücksburg, there are also many lovely gastronomic destinations away from the sea. There are plenty of places to satisfy your hunger, especially around the historic Glücksburg Castle. The Café am Schloss offers a variety of breakfast specialties to start the day. For a cozy evening with your partner, we recommend the Matthiesen & Matthiesen wine bar, for example. But if you fancy something hearty like a kebab, chips or grilled sausage, you will also find what you are looking for in Glücksburg.

Fish roll street

A vacation at the Baltic Sea always includes a fish roll. And if you can't get enough of this little treat between meals, you should take a look at the fish roll route along the Baltic Sea coast. The fish roll route connects all the fish roll stalls on the Baltic Sea in Schleswig-Holstein and Holstein Switzerland.
Here you can get what we think are the finest fish rolls in the world on the tastiest mile in the north!

In Glücksburg, you will find six restaurants that are part of the Fish Roll Route:
These three are located close to each other: in the historic Quellental restaurant, you can not only enjoy delicious fish rolls, but also have a fantastic view of the marina. Situated directly on Sandwig's spa beach, Pier 54 is a pleasure destination that combines sea views and a fresh breeze with delicious cuisine. The Sandwig Strandbistro, where you can really indulge yourself, makes you feel close to the water and connected to it. The fourth stop on our Glücksburg section of the tastiest mile in the north is the wonderful Strandcafé Holnis on the promenade. It impresses with its charm and offers not only fish sandwiches but also sweet delicacies with a great view of the coast. The charming Marktwirtschaft with private brewery Lykke is also part of Fischbrötchenstraße. It combines traditional fish specialties with unique craft beers from the in-house brewery. Another of our stops is the Scheune restaurant in the Glücksburger Hof, which offers a rustic, modern flair with a warm atmosphere.

Enjoy the walk!

Delicacies around Glücksburg

You can also find great regional culinary specialties in the Glücksburg region. Flensburg, for example, has its very own history with rum, which still plays a major role in the city today. In addition to the Braasch and Johannsen rum houses, there is also a rum museum in the basement of the Maritime Museum, and on the Rum and Sugar Mile you can learn lots of interesting facts about the subject. Flensburg is of course also home to the popular Flensburg Brewery, where you can take part in brewery tours and tastings. The two worlds of enjoyment then come together at Genusswerk Flensburg, Germany's northernmost brewery and distillery. Fruit schnapps, gin, whiskey and rum can also be found in the Dollerup distillery, where seminars and distillery shows are also held.

The regional stores have a wide range of products and something to suit every taste! Fresh eggs and Sunday chicken can be found at the Jessen-Oxbüll farm store, for example. Delicious strawberries and tomatoes are available at the Himmershoi organic farm, just a few kilometers from Glücksburg.
